Dominasi Simbolik dalam Empat Novel Karya Taha Husayn
Abstract
This study aims to reveal the author's thoughts when looking at the education system in his country. He thought of Taha Husayn in his four novels, namely Syajarat al-Bu's, Al-Ayyam 1, Al-Ayyam 2, and Al-Ayyam 3. Researchers see the urgency of the study of the four novels to present a dispute between traditional and modern ideologies that are in the middle happen. To express this thought, researchers used Roland Barthes's semiotic approach and Pierce Bourdieou's symbolic dominance. The semiotics approach is used to uncover hidden ideologies in the sign system of a particular culture. Researchers found symbolic domination in various lines of Egyptian social life, including in the field of education. Also found is the battle between subjects who have cultural, economic, social, and symbolic capital in an arena for reproducing structures.
Abstrak
Penelitian ini bertujuan mengungkap pemikiran sang pengarang ketika melihat sistem pendidikan di negaranya. Pemikiran Taha Husayn ini ia tuangkan dalam empat novel karangannya yaitu Syajarat al-Bu’s, Al-Ayyam 1, Al-Ayyam 2, dan Al-Ayyam 3. Peneliti melihat urgensi kajian terhadap keempat novel tersebut untuk menyajikan perseteruan antara ideologi tradisional dan modern yang tengah terjadi. Untuk mengungkap pemikiran tersebut, peneliti menggunakan pendekatan semiotika Roland Barthes dan dominasi simbolik Pierce Bourdieou. Pendekatan semiotika digunakan untuk menyingkap ideologi tersembunyi dalam sistem tanda pada kebudayaan tertentu. Peneliti menemukan adanya dominasi simbolik di berbagai lini kehidupan sosial masyarakat Mesir, termasuk di bidang pendidikan. Ditemukan juga pertarungan antara subjek yang memiliki kapital budaya, ekonomi, sosial, dan simbolik dalam satu arena untuk melakukan reproduksi struktur.
